Mike told Bloomberg TV's Kathleen Hays that a strong world economy will help bolster the U.S. economy and soften the blow of the downturn in housing. Mike also spoke with Bloomberg about the Milken Institute's new groundbreaking study, An Unhealthy America: The Economic Burden of Chronic Disease, which found that the current annual cost of chronic-disease treatment, combined with the indirect impact of disease-related productivity losses, is more than $1 trillion. The report estimates that by mid-century, U.S. GDP could be nearly $6 trillion higher if we implement moderate lifestyle programs now than it would be if we continue on the present course.
