Each June, Safeway joins the Prostate Cancer Foundation (formerly CaP CURE), in the fight against prostate cancer by creating two longbed trucks that travel throughout Northern and Southern California. As part of a fund-raising effort, Safeway and Vons customers, as well as Safeway employees, make checkstand donations to fund prostate-cancer research. The annual campaign has raised more than $70 million since 2003.
