Mike was joined by National of Institutes of Health Director Francis Collins (right) at a Congressional briefing in the Kennedy Caucus Room of the Russell Senate Building to address the need for a renewed national commitment to bioscience research. More than 140 chiefs of staff, legislative aides and government officials listened to Mike, Collins and prominent scientific investigators discuss the potential to extend significantly life expectancy and generate economic growth from investment in scientific research. The effort to maintain or expand federal bioscience research funding was the focus of the three-day Celebration of Science event in Washington.
