Mike traveled to Houston to present a Milken Educator Award to second-grade teacher Maggie Calagna at Armand Bayou Elementary School. With a focus on math and science, Calagna teaches students about recycling by creating musical instruments out of cereal boxes, helps them identify characteristics of live animals from the Armand Bayou Nature Center, and uses Venn diagrams for students to study the animals' similarities and differences. The Milken Family Foundation has honored thousands of outstanding kindergarten-through-12th-grade educators with unrestricted, individual Milken Educator Awards of $25,000 since 1987.
