Mike joins Safeway executive vice president Larree Renda and Chairman and CEO Steve Burd during a November 2007 press conference announcing a Safeway/Prostate Cancer Foundation research initiative focused on exploring the role of targeted heat in cancer therapy. An interdisciplinary team of investigators from multiple prominent cancer research centers, including the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, the University of Michigan Cancer Center and the University of British Columbia, will lead the project. The Safeway Foundation has become a major source of support to cancer research and treatment programs as well as to people with disabilities and education programs. The Prostate Cancer Foundation is the world's largest philanthropic source of support for prostate cancer.
