The Milken Institute released a groundbreaking study examining the impact of preventable illness on worker productivity and the resulting forgone economic growth. Mike was joined by Richard Carmona, former U.S. Surgeon General, who now heads Canyon Ranch (partially hidden) and Billy Tauzin, president of Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Assocation (PhRMA), in announcing the study results in October in Washington, D.C. The study reports that chronic diseases cost the U.S. more than $1 trillion annually, much of which is preventable.
