Mike was chosen by the Rady School of Management at the University of California, San Diego to be the commencement speaker at the graduation of the two-year-old school’s first graduating class in June 2007. Quoting Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, Mike told the graduates that they bear "an unceasing responsibility to use your knowledge and training for improving the lives of others." He discussed the importance of human capital, and urged the newly minted MBAs to consider philanthropy part of their careers from an early stage.
