Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong (left) and tennis great Andre Agassi (right) discussed the role fitness plays in leading a healthy lifestyle at the 2006 Milken Institute Global Conference. Agassi, the founder of the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation that provides recreational and educational opportunities for at-risk boys and girls, also participated in a Philanthropy in Education panel, noting that performance-based teacher contracts and stringent standards for student conduct has helped improve performance at his charter school in Las Vegas. Armstrong also joined Mike on The New Philanthropists and the Future of Medical Research Funding panel, where he advocated increasing preventive cancer screenings in urban areas. |
