Mike congratulates Marisol Leon, one of nine 2003 Milken Scholars. Leon, who graduated from Crossroads High School in Santa Monica, Calif., excelled academically, was a student leader and served as editor of the school's newspaper, which won the Columbia Scholastic Press Association's Gold Crown award. She later earned a bachelor's degree at Yale University and a master's degree at Loyola Marymount University. Since 1989, the Milken Family Foundation has recognized hundreds of outstanding graduating high school students with a commitment for four years of financial assistance, career-related counseling and internships, opportunities for volunteerism and a graduate fund to assist with preparatory courses for either graduate school or the world of work. Looking on is Ralph Finerman, Foundation trustee. |
