In pre-game ceremonies at "The House that Ruth Built" (Yankee Stadium), Mike was joined by (left to right) Robin Ventura, Terry Steinbach, Yankees manager Joe Torre, Hall of Famer Tommy Lasorda, and Jason Giambi to promote the need for prostate cancer research during the Prostate Cancer Foundation's 2003 Home Run Challenge (HRC). The HRC raises awareness and raises money to directly fund prostate cancer research. With support from Major League teams, players, managers and their coaching staffs, and umpires, fans nationwide pledge from $1 or more for each home run hit in 60 selected games each year.
