Nobel Peace Prize winner Shimon Peres spoke at a Milken Institute program in January 2003. The former Israeli Prime Minister outlined four major events that he believes must be addressed in the coming decade to avert global disaster: confrontation with terrorists; resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; environmental decline; and the development of nanotechnology. Peres said that peace in the Middle East can only come when terrorism is defeated and Israel's neighbors develop stronger economies and more stable governments. |
